Giles and Posner Retro Hot Air Popcorn Maker (Review)

Over the years my wife and I have accumulated the makings of our very own home fun fair. Having purchased a drinks fountain, candy floss maker, pizza maker and chocolate fountain we lack just one element: Popcorn.

Which is why we were thrilled to test the Giles and Posner Retro Hot Air Popcorn Maker from the team at Find Me A

The retro design is great for our funfair theme, with a metallic red finish and a little spout for the popcorn to flood out in to. It’s a very easy setup as well, you just add popcorn kernels which can be found in most supermarkets or health food shops. There’s no need to add any liquid so you don’t have to worry about pouring away hot liquid when it’s finished.

So once you’ve poured in your popcorn kernels you flip a switch and finished popcorn comes out in about a minute. The popcorn marker runs very hot, and you can feel a circle of heat radiating from it when it’s in use, so it’s recommended you keep kids away and that you don’t touch the actual device whilst it’s cooking or for a short while afterwards.

Although the popcorn maker gets hot, the actual popcorn is ready to eat petty much right away. We got two cereal bowls full of popcorn, with a little extra left in the machine that could have been popped out, and it took around three minutes for the popcorn to be ready to eat.

Whilst we made the popcorn our home was flooded with a nice smell that lingered for a little while after we had eaten it all. We decided to make the popcorn extra special by melting butter and chocolate and adding that as an extra topping which made it even better.

There were a few unpopped kernels that had been pushed out by the finished popcorn so that was a shame, but once we’d removed them from the mix it was delicious popcorn made very quickly.

Cleaning is easy as there’s just the one chamber and you can wipe it once the heat goes down. As no liquid is needed for popping there’s no residue or grease, it’s the easiest kitchen appliance I’ve ever cleaned.

Aside from the odd unpopped kernel, the Retro Hot Air Popcorn Maker is a fantastic way to make your own popcorn. It’s quick and easy to make popcorn in any style you want, giving you the fun of the fair in your own home.

The Retro Popcorn Maker was provided for review by Find Me a Gift as part of their range of Christmas Gifts.
